People I Know #11

REVIEW of People I Know #11
by Timothy Winchester

Under a handsome picnic-coloured cover, Tim Winchester's latest epic unfolds in glorious black-and-white. What begins as an innocent conversation between The toastish diva Christina, and her cute dinosaur companion Toby evolves into a revealing Jeremy Kyle-esque tale of love, identity and retribution, (with twists I didn’t see coming), as Christina’s distressing dalliance takes a horrific turn for the worse, and she suffers an ignominy I guarantee we’ve all suffered at some point. There’s all this, and a makeover montage you simply must not miss.

Find out more at, and grab a copy of this, plus Tim’s other books at one of his upcoming convention appearances.

Sunday, 29 August 2010 is DEAD!

Who needs .Biz anyway? You can still find everything that was here before at FISH1000.Blogspot.Com.

I've allowed to expire (the renewal price went up considerably), so if you've been anxiously awaiting the chance to purchase that prime piece of virtual real-estate, you can finally snap it up!

Anyone else should change their bookmarks if necessary, and ignore any references to Fish1000.Biz that may still be clinging limpet-like to the hull of my fragmented online presence.

Mad Science

Remember that drawing of my hand I posted a while back? It was in preparation for this:

...which was for the CAPTION: MAD SCIENCE themed programme.

Woody's Flamin' Snake-Burnin' Jet-cycle! (LEGO set 30072)

Saturdays paper gave away these free Toy Story 3 Lego sets - Featuring Woody by a campfire.

I thought it would be more fun to make a snake-burning jet-cycle. So I did.  The sausage turned out to be quite a useful brick to make the curved front.  Burn, snake, burn!  Yee-haw!

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get Sundays Buzz Lightyear set.

Life Drawing Class

I did a Life Drawing taster evening class at Harlow College on 30th June - First time I've done something like that.  Met a nice bunch of people, and got to draw a naked bloke!

We started off with some 5-15 minute warm-up pencil sketches:

Then took about an hour and a quarter on an A2 charcoal/chalk study:

Below is an unrelated self-portrait practise sketch I did during lunchtime at work (in preparation for a mini comic strip):

Fish1000 Comics on

There's a new feature on Small Press comics at beginning this week (episode 30) - The first installment focuses on my minicomics. Go check it out (if you feel inclined to). If you make comics, you can contact them if you want to be featured on future episodes.

The main content of the episode is the life and works of Frank Frazetta.

Here's a partial preview of the Small Press feature:

Lego TARDIS Pictures

How to tell I've had a few days off work:

The hand-in-a-jar was Cam's idea - Wish I'd thought of it! The TARDIS features opening doors, and 'central console' - Sadly, I wasn't able to make the inside larger than the outside, you'll just have to pretend.
